HORSEMANSHIP CLINIC

The Texas A & M Horsemanship Clinic will be held on May 31 thru June 1. The clinic will begin at 8 A.M. and conclude at 5:00 P.M. both days. Parents are encouraged to attend and ride with their children and at least one adult is required to attend the clinic with each youth. The clinic is taught by current A&M equestrian students. Call the CEA office for more information and to register. The fee will be $25/ person. Space is limited on a first come, first serve basis.   A limited number of stalls will be available at $10.00 per stall.  Please pre-register no later than May 25, 2000.
Students will need to bring drinks, sack lunches, and water buckets for their horses on the

days of the clinic.


BUCKSKIN BRIGADE

Are you interested in white-tailed deer and wildlife management?? If you are The Buckskin Brigade might be for you.  It is a wildlife leadership camp that commissions the popular white-tailed deer as the vehicle to equip youth with leadership skills, foster a land ethic, and builds a strong understanding of habitat management.

FAIR NEWS

I hope everyone had a great Fair this year.  It was good to see such a large turnout for 4-H in all of the projects and exhibits.   Congratulations, to all who were able to make the premium sale this year.  For those who didn't, remember that there is another year fast approaching.  Everyone needs to remember what was successful this year, as well as the things that did not work quite as well.

MAJOR SHOW STEER TAGS

All those considering showing a steer at the major shows in 2000 will need to place their tag orders at the CEA Office. Orders must be placed no later than May 1. Tags will be $6 each.





2000 LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM EXCELS IN COMPETITIONS

The District Livestock Judging Team placed fifth place in District Competition and individual members took home numerous awards. Members were: Whitney Campbell, Courtney Jackson, Kaitlyn Van Hess, Randal Prehoda, Brandy Prehoda, and Jessica Baggett.  In addition, Whitney was the 5th high point Junior individual.
The team also competed at the Houston Livestock Show, San Antonio Livestock Show, and Sam Houston State Invitational. Other team members participating  were: Justin Hill, Kyle Grisham, Jared Miller, and Sean Clements. Good Job team and we look forward to next year. Thanks to Susan Baggett for coaching this team!!
