conducted at the La Bandera Ranch in Carrizo Springs on June 11-15, 2000.
Who can attend?  4-Hers 14-17 years of age who exhibit leadership potential and an interest in the outdoors, and who are not attending 4-H Roundup.

PICTURES

We still have pictures from the Horse Club Banquet that need to be picked up and delivered to the donors as soon as possible.  They are $9.00 each.


LEADERSHIP LAB

Leadership Lab is set for June 28, 29, & 30. PRE-REGISTRATION is required by  April 26 at the CEA Office.  A $50 deposit is required with pre-registration.  The remaining balance of $100 will be due on May 17th.  This fee includes all meals at Brownwood, 2 nights lodging, bus transportation, program activities, insurance, and curriculum.  (Chartered commercial buses will be used to transport us to Brownwood this year.)
Who Can Attend?  Senior 4-H members ages 14-19 years old at lab time. 
Walker County always sends a large delegation to Leadership Lab and we are looking forward to having a great turnout and time this year.
Teen Leaders for Lab-If you would like to teach sessions at lab and be involved in their coordination you must come by and fill out an application by April 26.  Only two applications will be accepted from each county.  Leaders must also attend a pre-lab training on June 22, 2000 (this will be in Huntsville).  This activity will look great on a resume!

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE

The Wesley Sherrill Memorial Scholarship applications are due to the CEA Office no later than April 24, 2000. If you need an application call or come by the CEA Office. The Wesley Sherrill Scholarship is open to

graduating High School Senior 4-H members that will attend college in the Fall.


STATE  HORSE  SHOW RULES

The State Horse Show 2000 will be held in Abilene on July 23rd through 29th.  State Horse Show
2000 Rules and Regulations are now available at the CEA Office at a cost of $2.00 per  copy.


RANGE CAMP

The 2000 Youth Range Workshop  will be held June 18-June 23 at the Texas Tech Center in Junction, TX.  The purpose of this workshop is to recognize outstanding youth, develop leadership, rub shoulders with professionals and provide a stimulating but in-depth educational experience and training for youth interested in practical range, ranch, and natural resource management.  Only one 4-Her per county can be recommended for application.  Applications will be accepted until April 21, 2000.   Workshop is for youth 14-17 years of age and who have completed the 9th grade.  Please contact the CEA Office or agents if you are interested in applying for this workshop.

STATEWIDE ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION-PREGNANCY DETERMINATION CLINICS
Several of these clinics will be held around the State.  One is scheduled to be held in Montgomery County.  These are hands-on, live cattle clinics and do have fees involved.  If you are interested call for more information. 


YOUTH COW CAMP 2000

The highly recognized Youth Cow Camp will be held at Texas A & M Kingsville on July 6-8.  High school age students with an interest in Beef Cattle Production should fill out an application and return it to the CEA Office on or before April 25.
25 students from around the state will be accepted.


FAIR PICTURES

Fair pictures should be ready around April 24.  Please be sure to call &

check on them so that you can get your thank you notes and  pictures to your buyers.  This is  very important.


LAMB & GOAT CAMP

Are you interested in learning more about Lamb and Goat selection, Health & Management, Feeding, Exercising, Washing & Shearing, Classifying, Showmanship, and Validation Updates??  If so then the 2000 Howard College Lamb and Goat Camp might be for you.  Dates are June 11, 12, and 13, 2000 at Howard College in Big Spring, TX.  The cost is $60.00 per person for lodging, meals and awards. Parent supervision is required. Deadline to apply is Thursday, May 25, 2000 and is limited to the first 200 paid entries.

Remember negative Coggins papers are required to be on file with the CEA Office before a horse will be allowed to practice or show. Coggins test will need to be current within one year. THIS IS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY.
The District Show will be held June 20th and 21st (Tuesday and Wednesday). There will again be Novice classes available so 4-H'ers can get some District show experience.
