Timber Production



We offered a MASTER TREE FARMER course in February of 2001. Program participants met every Tuesday from February 6 to March 20, 2001. Sessions began at 6:00 PM and lasted until 9:00 PM.

Session Topics included: Introduction to Forest Management, Forestry Terms and Concepts, Managing for Pine (natural & artificial), Managing for Hardwoods (Upland & Bottom lands), Wildlife Management (game & non game), Forestry as an Investment, Timber Marketing, Security and Harvesting, Forestry Services and Programs for the Southern Landowner.

This program was broadcast via satellite from Clemson University. Here in Walker County this was a joint effort of the Texas Cooperative Extension Office and the Huntsville office of the Texas Forest Service.
